The Atlanta Festival Academy Young Artist Competition Sets New Regional Standard for
Classical Excellence
JOHNS CREEK, GA — July 28, 2025 — The Atlanta Festival Academy (AFA) held its inaugural
Young Artist Competition on June 25–26, 2025, marking a historic moment in the Southeast’s
classical music scene. Held at the Johns Creek United Methodist Church Sanctuary, this
competition is the first international classical music contest for youth and collegiate-level
musicians ever hosted in Georgia, and currently offers the largest cash prize of its kind in the
Southeast — a groundbreaking $10,000 awarded to the Grand Prize winner of the Young Artist
Division.
More than 25 semi-finalists from across North America, Europe, and Asia applied through a
rigorous selection process, with live finalists traveling from New York, San Francisco, Hong
Kong, and London to perform before a distinguished jury: Seunghee Lee (Clarinet), Herbert
Greenberg (Violin), Ben Kim (Piano), and Henry Cheng (Conductor). |
