First Step Team Rings Christmas Bells, Raises $3934.36 for Local Charity

During the holiday season in 2023, First Step Team raised $3934.36 during four weekends of bellringing for The Salvation Army. All funds contributed to charitable work locally by the nonprofit.

I was honored to receive the Georgia Youth Leadership Award last year. Recently I received a letter of encouragement from Georgia Governor Mr. Brian Kemp. “Your compassion, optimism, and kindness do not go unnoticed,” he said. These words apply to all of First Step team members and our parents. For the last several years we have done a lot of meaningful volunteer work and our team has been recognized by many non-profits.

First Step Team first did holiday bellringing  in 2021 and raised almost $1000 for The Salvation Army. It was in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and we were proud to spread the message of “Hope is Greater Than Fear” was the message then. We published an article about we extended the 130-years-old tradition two years ago.

"Teamwork divides the task and multiplies the success. - Anonymous.” In just two years, the amount our team raised quadrupled, reflecting the fast growth in team membership. 65 kids and parents dedicated long hours during four holiday weekends ringing bells, with many utilizing their talents in dancing, singingand musical instruments to encourage more donations.  Please see the list of people in our activity report on the First Step Team website.

Since founding, the First Step Team has raised almost $12,000 for various charities. In 2023, every month we organized activities, such as environmental cleanups, serving in food banks, and volunteering at nature centers.
